Help & Support Center
Welcome to the NearByMe Help & Support Center. This page explains how to use NearByMe to find places and services near a selected location, search by category or keyword, adjust your search radius, view results on a map, and get directions to a nearby destination.
NearByMe is designed to make it easier to discover useful places around you, including restaurants, cafés, hospitals, pharmacies, universities, schools, banks, shopping locations, hotels, fuel stations, parks, transportation services, and many other categories. You can search using your current location, a searched location, or exact coordinates.
Using NearByMe
NearByMe helps you discover nearby places based on a location and the search criteria you provide. You can select a category, choose a search radius, enter a keyword, and view available places that match your search.
- Choose a Category: Select the type of place you want to find, such as restaurants, cafés, hospitals, pharmacies, schools, universities, banks, hotels, parks, fuel stations, shopping locations, or other available categories.
- Search for a Location: Enter a location or place name to search around a specific area.
- Use Your Location: If location access is available and you allow it, NearByMe can use your device location as the starting point for a nearby search.
- Use Exact Coordinates: You can provide latitude and longitude coordinates when you want to search around a specific geographic point.
- Choose a Search Radius: Select an available radius to control how far from the selected location NearByMe searches for places.
Finding Places by Category
NearByMe organizes nearby searches into categories so that you can quickly find the type of place you need. Available categories may include food and restaurants, healthcare, education, shopping, finance, transportation, accommodation, entertainment, automotive services, public services, and other local places.
Category pages are designed around a specific type of nearby search. For example, a food search can help you discover restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and other food-related locations, while an education search can help you find schools, colleges, universities, libraries, and related places where available.
The places returned for a category depend on the location, selected radius, available place data, and search criteria used at the time of the request.
Choosing a Search Location
You can search around different locations instead of limiting your search to your current position. Enter a location in the search field and select an appropriate suggestion when available.
NearByMe may use the selected location as the center point for finding nearby places. This makes it possible to explore places around a neighborhood, street, landmark, city area, or another searchable location.
If you want to search from an exact geographic point, you can also use latitude and longitude coordinates when the feature is available on the relevant page.
Using Your Current Location
The "Use My Location" option can help you quickly search for places around your current position. Your browser may ask for permission before providing location information to the website.
Location access is controlled by your browser and device. If you decline permission, disable location services, or your device cannot determine a reliable position, you can search for another location manually instead.
Location accuracy can vary depending on your device, browser, network, GPS availability, and surrounding environment. For this reason, nearby results should be understood as approximate geographic results rather than a guarantee of exact physical distance.
Choosing a Search Radius
The search radius determines how far from your selected location NearByMe looks for matching places. Available radius options may include 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 25 km depending on the page.
- Smaller Radius: Useful when you want to focus on places close to the selected location.
- Larger Radius: Useful when you want to discover more options across a wider area.
- Different Results: Increasing or decreasing the radius can change the number and selection of places returned by the search.
Searching with Keywords
Keyword search can help narrow your results when you are looking for something more specific. For example, you may search for a particular business name, service, food type, or other place-related term.
Keyword results depend on the search information available for the requested area. A place may not appear if its information is missing, unavailable, outside the selected radius, or does not sufficiently match the search criteria.
Understanding Nearby Results
Search results can include information such as the place name, approximate distance, category, address, phone number, website information, and other details when those details are available.
The information displayed for a place may come from external place and location data sources. Business information can change over time, including addresses, phone numbers, opening hours, websites, and business availability.
NearByMe does not guarantee that every nearby place will appear in search results or that every displayed business detail is current. When an important decision depends on business information, verify the details with the business or another authoritative source.
Using the Map
Nearby search results can be displayed on an interactive map to make it easier to understand where places are located in relation to the selected search point.
The map can help you visually compare locations, identify nearby destinations, and select a place for additional route information.
Map information and geographic data may depend on external mapping services and available map data. Map positions should therefore be treated as geographic guidance rather than a replacement for official road signs, local directions, or on-site information.
Understanding Distance
The distance shown in a nearby search generally represents the geographic relationship between the selected search location and the place. It should not automatically be interpreted as driving distance or walking distance.
Road and travel distances can differ because roads, paths, barriers, restricted areas, one-way streets, and available routes may affect the actual journey.
Getting Directions
After selecting a nearby place, NearByMe can provide route information between the starting location and the selected destination where routing functionality is available.
Depending on the available options, you may be able to select different travel modes such as driving, cycling, or walking. Route distance and estimated travel time can vary between travel modes.
Route estimates are based on available mapping and routing information and may change because of road conditions, traffic, closures, construction, weather, restrictions, or other circumstances. Always follow current road signs and local safety requirements.
Opening Directions in Google Maps
Where available, the Google Maps directions option can open the selected destination in Google Maps for additional navigation and route planning.
Google Maps is a separate service. Its maps, directions, traffic information, travel estimates, and other features are provided by Google and may differ from information displayed by NearByMe.
Calling a Nearby Place
If a phone number is available for a place, NearByMe may provide a call option so that you can contact the business or organization directly from a supported device.
Phone numbers and business contact details can change. Before relying on a displayed number, especially for important services, confirm that the information belongs to the intended business or organization.
Nearby Search Troubleshooting
If a nearby search does not return the expected results, the following steps may help:
- Check the location: Make sure the selected location is correct before starting the search.
- Increase the radius: A larger radius may help when there are limited results in a small search area.
- Check the category: Try another relevant category if the desired place is not listed.
- Adjust the keyword: Try a shorter or more general search term.
- Check your internet connection: Nearby searches and map features may require an active internet connection.
- Refresh the page: Temporary browser or network problems may be resolved by refreshing the page.
- Try again later: External location, mapping, or place-data services can occasionally experience temporary availability or request limitations.
